Discover the answer to what is your life purpose
What is your life purpose?
Many people are asking this question and looking for the answer. Even Aristotle from Ancient Greek times mulled over this question and some might add that he had an advantage because his name means “the best purpose.” Lucky him! One of Aristotle’s quotes is:
Happiness is the meaning and purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence.
I’ve also mused over this question for many years and found good information on my life purpose by referring to Ancient systems such as Astrology, Numerology and, The Soul Purpose System. I wrote about this in my book “A Practical Guide to Finding Your Soul Purpose” so you can explore this ancient wisdom to help guide you in this lifetime. I’m passionate about this topic and to help others just like you find the answer to such a profound question that people have been pondering for centuries.
I have been so curious about this that it now underpins the work I do in my business and yes, the very good news is that I am a practitioner of an Ancient system called The Soul Purpose System brought forward into the modern-day to help with the shift in consciousness. A principle of this system is that your birth name is creating your reality and holds the keys to your life purpose.
This blog will support you with receiving the answer to what is your life purpose.
Is there a difference between your purpose and passion?
Yes, there is a difference. Passion is linked to emotions and feeling good about something in the moment. It can be fleeting. Whereas your purpose is broader and more encompassing of a bigger mission or plan for your life. To further illustrate, passion can be seen when someone is in the zone of painting whereas purpose is someone who is thinking of taking action about making a difference in the world, for example, living a more sustainable life.
How to find the answer to what is your life purpose
What I have come to learn through my practice and working with clients with The Soul Purpose System is that your life purpose involves 4 key areas:
Your Challenges: the first key area is your challenges, when you came into this lifetime, your soul agreed to specific lessons/assignments to work through. These are often very challenging lessons but are there for your higher purpose. They will require you to dive deep into your wounds, experience a variety of emotions and the outcome is to grow and evolve.
Once you have gone through your lessons this can then make you want to share your learning with others to help them to heal. It could inspire you to write a book, work 1 to 1 with people, teach workshops or be a public speaker to get your message out there. Going through life’s challenges can broaden your mind and enables you to apply a higher meaning and perspective when challenges come up. There are tremendous gifts in working through your challenges and can bring forward more talents.
Your Talents: the second area is your talents, these are qualities that you naturally have. It’s often what people will say about you and think you’re good at. There are several easy actions you can take to find out your talents and one of them is to look up your Character VIA Strengths in their free survey, click here.
There are a few more questions in the short questionnaire below that will help you too. Your talents also help you move through your challenges so knowing and understanding them on a deep level is very helpful. By activating your talents, you can bring forward more positive changes in your life and unlock latent talents.
Your Goals: the third area is your goals, you will be specifically drawn to certain goals that make your life more fulfilling. It’s important to make a specific list of your goals in all areas of your life so write what you would like to achieve in health, finances, career, relationships, spirituality / personal development, and fun.
For example, a health goal might be to lose 5kg within 3 months. Consider all of the goals and notice which one you are most motivated to achieve as that will give you an indication of goals linked with your life purpose.
Your core essence: the fourth key area is your core essence, this is what you came here to fully express in this lifetime in all aspects of your life. When you feel this essence and are aligned to it, it’s very uplifting and inspiring. Taking action in alignment with this energy is invigorating. It’s the energy you want to drive into the world.
Complete this short questionnaire to help you understand more about yourself and your life purpose. It’s good practice to spend some time in reflection, so grab a journal and note down your answers to these questions:
- Begin with the end in mind, what do you want to be remembered for? What do you want people to say about you at your funeral?
- What were the moments in your life that had the biggest impact?
- What were the most significant challenges in your life?
- What strengths did you use to overcome your challenges?
- What books are you drawn to?
- When do you tend to step in to help people, what drives you to help?
Why is it important to find your purpose in life?
1. It gives your life meaning. Many people report that they want to give something back in some way to their community or make a difference. Knowing your life purpose aligns you with making a difference.
2. You experience more confidence. It gives you clarity on what you’re here to do so decisions are easier to make and you back yourself.
3. You will find more contentment. As you devote yourself to your life purpose and access your talents, you will experience more fulfilment and a sense of achievement.
Life purpose examples to put it into perspective
Nelson Mandela was a real change maker. His life was devoted to humanity and humanitarian causes. Mandela didn’t have an easy life, he spent 27 years in prison because he challenged the South African government on the Apartheid system. He was a peacemaker and wanted to unify the South African people and remove the division between black and white.
In 1994 he was inaugurated as the first democratically elected president of South Africa. Mandela focused on how he could serve every day. His story and legacy is an inspiration to all and an example of aligning with your life purpose. He overcame his challenges, developed his talents and took focused action on achieving his mission.
Louise Hay was a pioneer of the self-improvement movement. She started life impoverished and was abused at a young age. Louise loved to help people and found herself supporting men with Aids. It was from this work and her healing journey she saw how our thoughts and emotions play a huge role in life.
She went on to write many books with “You can heal your life” being one of her most popular. She created Hay House, a successful publishing company, and through this, she has served many people with her teachings and her legacy lives on.
Everyone has different passions and talents but the idea behind these life purpose examples is to focus on where you want to serve. When you focus on the what, the how and the actions to take will appear.
