What are 3 signs of imbalance with your feminine qualities?
Although our lives are dominated by a masculine paradigm, which I shared in a previous blog post, at times we can also find ourselves slipping into patterns of accessing our feminine qualities too much.
A few of the feminine qualities that are easily observable in daily life include:
- Relaxing
- Flowing
- Nurturing.
Let’s now take a closer look at each one.
Relaxing is about being, not doing, and physically resting. This allows your body to recharge and rejuvenate. I’m sure you’ve realised the benefits of relaxing when you have taken time to rest after an illness or injury and noticed how quickly you recover than when you try to push through or continue to be active.
The next quality is flowing, this is when you allow others to move in their own way without any requests for how they need to be. It is also you flowing with your own life without the need to control or plan. Perhaps you have observed more of this quality when you are on vacation when you don’t feel the need to be somewhere. The thing is, this quality needs to be accessed much more regularly to achieve balance in your life.
Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished - Lao Tzu.
The third quality is nurturing when you are encouraging other’s development and growth and showing love and care to others. Nurturing yourself, also known as self-care, is also a very important feminine quality.
As you can see these are all useful qualities to help you with navigating life but there’s a real possibility for overuse of these qualities too.
What are 3 signs of imbalances with these feminine qualities?
1. Relaxing is very good for wellbeing, however, signs of imbalance are when there’s not enough action in your life. For example, you could be spending a lot of time meditating each day which will be beneficial, however, you could also become a hermit crab and not be interacting with life in other meaningful ways. To create physical results and shift your reality, action is required. After action, we need time to relax after being physical and assess how things went from a centred place.
2. When you are showing imbalances in flowing, you will notice you don’t complete actions / projects, or you are procrastinating. Flowing still requires a level of control, however, it is being patient with whatever comes up in your day and responding without rushing or urgency. Many people are in a pattern of control and responding with urgency to situations in their day, when many activities don’t require the urgency placed on it. Being able to distinguish this in your day helps you to create balance.
3. Nurturing is imbalanced when you find yourself smothering others and being too involved in their lives. Adults need space to live their own lives without interference from well-meaning people. This is when it becomes a controlling masculine quality which was discussed last week. The skill of allowing others to be is important here to achieve balance.
Can you see these signs of imbalance in your life?
What is one action you could take to shift the imbalance to the positive?
We were designed for both the feminine and masculine aspects to coexist and return to wholeness. When you become consciously aware of which qualities you are placing value on, you create awareness of other choices you can make to support you with thriving in your life.
