How to put your life on Autopilot

How to put your life on Autopilot

Apr 05, 2020

Is it possible to put your life on Autopilot? Yes! Learn how with two techniques.

I've been thinking about how I can bring more ease into my life. This made me think about when learning new things and setting goals (which I'm doing much of at the moment) is how can I move them to Autopilot?

This led me back to the psychology and neuroscience of Automaticity. Automaticity occurs once you have learnt a new behaviour or skill sufficiently through repetition and practice, then the mind won't need to give attention to lower level details required anymore, as it will be automatic. Examples of behaviours that are automatic are brushing your teeth and driving a car.

This means that for anything new or a goal that you want to achieve, simply focus on it daily for a period of time, research suggests an average of 66 days to form a new habit and to make it automatic, and then you will notice it moves to Autopilot over time. Investment and extra attention in the short term pays off in the long term.

The other tremendously helpful technique I found was accessing the Automatic Pilot paraliminals by Learning Strategies. You can learn more about this great product here. Listening to this is like a super charger for learning new things and committing to your plan free of self sabotage and interference uplevelling it to the Autopilot phase faster.

Frustrations and lack of motivation can get in the way when you are learning something new or when you want to attain that new goal, but being persistent and focused with your efforts will bring the reward of Autopilot.

So what do you want to switch to Autopilot in your life starting today?

Here's to living your best life!
