Are you losing faith in your dreams? Be inspired now!

Jun 07, 2020

I know during these challenging times it can feel like your dreams are out of reach, however, you can always take action toward your dreams.

It takes faith and I want to remind you that the greatest people in history rose out of challenging times.

One such story is Nelson Mandela and on 18 July 2020, we celebrate International Mandela Day. Nelson Mandela’s story is one of faith. He is considered by many to be the father of South Africa. South Africa was under the government system of Apartheid from 1948 through to the 1990’s where people from different races were segregated. Although even as far back as the 1900’s, racial segregation had been a central aspect of South African policy. Mandela was an anti-Apartheid activist and was instrumental in negotiating the freedom and equality of all South Africans.

Mandela grew up learning about the unfair discrimination he witnessed in his environment and this led to a strong fortitude that grew within him to help end discrimination. His fortitude grew because Apartheid was a harsh system that took away basic human rights of non-whites so there was minimal opportunity for education and freedom of movement. Firstly, Mandela advocated non-violent protests as he followed Mahatma Gandhi’s example, however, later turned to violent tactics. As a result, the government sentenced Mandela to jail where he spent 27 years of his life.

During Mandela’s time in jail, he never lost hope of the great transformation that he wanted to see occur. He stated that “Even in the grimmest time in prison, when my comrades and I were pushed to our limits, I would see a glimmer of humanity in one of the guards, perhaps just for a second, but it was enough to reassure me and keep me going. Man’s goodness is a flame that can be hidden but never extinguished.” This demonstrates Mandela’s impenetrable faith in his life purpose and passion. Mandela was released in 1990. In 1994, Mandela became the first president democratically elected.

What is faith?

Faith is defined as “great trust or confidence in something or someone” (Cambridge English Dictionary).

Having the capacity for faith is a key to success, so what are the elements?

1. It is more than just a wishful thought or a hope of some kind. It is having knowledge in something bigger than yourself, it can be religion or spirituality or identifying your soul purpose.

2. It is being led by your heart, not just your head. It is an inner knowing; a personal conviction to follow your heart and holding a belief that something is true.

3. Then taking inspired action towards your bigger plan.

So what action can you take to inspire change? Don’t give up if you are losing faith. See the glimmer! Keep heading towards your life vision that resonates deeply within you. There is a reason you have your yearnings and desires so strive towards them with peace in your heart.

Be the change you want to see in the world

– Mahatma Gandhi

Are you lost and want to find your faith? Then go here.

Here’s to living your best life!
